In a dominating performance, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Los Angeles Rams 49-21 in the season opener for both teams. The victory not only sets the tone for the 2027 season but also highlights the 49ers' offensive firepower and defensive prowess right out of the gate. Harry Calls Jr. was sensational under center for San Francisco, throwing for 345 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his ability to command the game. Meanwhile, Shohei Ohtani was a standout receiver, racking up an impressive 259 receiving yards, making him a constant threat downfield. Christian McCaffrey contributed effectively on the ground with 91 rushing yards, adding balance to the explosive aerial attack. Defensively, the 49ers were equally impressive, with Alex Highsmith leading the charge with two sacks and Craig Woodson securing two interceptions, a crucial factor in turning the tide against the Rams. San Francisco's defense stifled Los Angeles at critical moments, particularly in the second quarter, where a flurry of turnovers shifted momentum decisively in their favor. Devin Bush’s four tackles also helped maintain control of the game, as the 49ers proved to be a formidable opponent on both sides of the ball.
