In a thrilling season opener, the Detroit Lions dominated the Green Bay Packers with a final score of 60-36. This matchup was crucial for both teams as they sought to establish early momentum in the 2028 season. With a powerful offensive display, the Lions made a strong statement in front of their home crowd. Leading the charge for Detroit was quarterback C.J. Stroud, who put on a passing clinic with 425 yards and an impressive seven touchdown passes. His favorite target, Elijah Higgins, was a revelation, racking up 230 receiving yards and finding the end zone multiple times. On the ground, Breece Hall of the Packers was a bright spot, rushing for 164 yards, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Lions’ explosive offense. Defensively, the Lions made key contributions that shifted the momentum of the game. Jack Campbell led the team with four total tackles, while Joey Conley added two sacks, disrupting the Packers' rhythm throughout the contest. The turning point came when the Lions' defense stifled a potential comeback by forcing the Packers into a critical turnover, allowing Stroud to connect for another touchdown and seal the game.
