In a hard-fought season opener, the Washington Commanders topped the Philadelphia Eagles 24-14, setting the tone for the 2026 campaign. Both teams entered the game looking to establish early momentum, but it was the Commanders who ultimately secured victory. Jayden Daniels led the charge for Washington, throwing for 192 yards and two touchdowns, effectively managing the offense throughout the game. His precision passing and ability to connect with key receivers proved vital, as the Commanders capitalized on their scoring opportunities. Meanwhile, Ashton Jeanty carried the load for Philadelphia, rushing for 64 yards, but the Eagles struggled to find the end zone consistently. Defensively, Tre Hawkins III made a crucial impact for Washington with an interception that shifted the game's momentum. Although the Eagles' Jihaad Campbell recorded a sack and Art Green tallied six tackles, it was the Commanders' ability to create turnovers that ultimately sealed their victory. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Hawkins' interception set up a touchdown that gave Washington a commanding lead, proving insurmountable for Philadelphia.
