The Philadelphia Eagles opened their 2026 season with a decisive 31-7 victory over the Washington Commanders. With both teams eager to make their mark in Week 1, the Eagles showcased their dominance right from the start, leaving the Commanders struggling to keep pace. Quarterback Will Levis was the star of the show, throwing for an impressive 368 yards and four touchdowns, establishing himself as a key player in the Eagles' offensive scheme. DeVonta Smith made the most of his opportunities, racking up 154 receiving yards and finding the end zone, while Tyjae Spears added a solid 75 rushing yards to keep the defense honest. Defensively, the Eagles were able to stifle the Commanders' efforts, limiting their scoring opportunities throughout the game. Despite C.J. Gardner-Johnson's seven tackles for Washington, the Eagles' pressure and coverage thwarted any potential momentum shifts. The game turned decisively in Philadelphia's favor during the second quarter, where they scored three unanswered touchdowns, effectively sealing the outcome before halftime.
