In a high-octane season opener, the Pittsburgh Steelers topped the Atlanta Falcons with a decisive 77-49 victory. Both teams came into Week 1 looking to establish themselves early in the 2026 season, but it was the Steelers who showcased their dominance on both sides of the ball. Baker Mayfield delivered an impressive performance, throwing for seven touchdown passes, while Drake Maye of the Falcons led the game in passing yards with an astounding 589. The Falcons' Jeremiyah Love added a solid ground game with 164 rushing yards, and Chris Brazzell II made a statement as a top target, racking up 255 receiving yards, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with the Steelers' explosive offense. While the Steelers' offense shined, their defense played a crucial role in the outcome, highlighted by Treydan Stukes' eight total tackles and Aaron Donald's impactful sack. The turning point came in the second quarter when Mayfield connected for three quick touchdowns, allowing Pittsburgh to build a commanding lead that the Falcons could never recover from. Overall, it was a statement win for the Steelers as they look to carry this momentum into the rest of the season.
