In a thrilling opener for the 2026 season, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Los Angeles Rams by a final score of 33-21, showcasing their offensive firepower and solidifying their early claim to dominance in the division. Both teams were eager to make a statement in Week 1, but it was the 49ers who came out on top with a balanced and effective game plan. Randall Cunningham was the standout performer for San Francisco, throwing for 302 yards and three touchdowns, effectively orchestrating the offense. Travis Etienne Jr. contributed on the ground with 53 rushing yards, while the dual-threat attack kept the Rams’ defense guessing throughout the game. On the other side, Kenneth Walker shined for Los Angeles, racking up 111 receiving yards, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the 49ers' offensive output. Defensively, the 49ers made a critical impact, led by Cooper DeJean who recorded an interception that shifted momentum in their favor. The turning point came in the second quarter when DeJean's pick halted a Rams drive, allowing the 49ers to extend their lead. While the Rams' Gabe Jacas managed to notch a sack, it was the 49ers' ability to create turnovers and pressure that ultimately sealed the victory.
