The New Orleans Saints topped the Washington Commanders 34-16 in a decisive Week 15 matchup, solidifying their playoff positioning as the season winds down. This victory marks a crucial step for the Saints as they aim for a strong finish in the 2027 season. Offensively, Tyler Shough led the Saints with a steady performance, throwing for one touchdown while supporting a balanced attack that included Travis Etienne Jr., who rushed for 67 yards. LaNorris Sellers of the Commanders put up a commendable 249 passing yards, but his efforts were not enough to overcome the Saints' offensive firepower. Antonio Williams stood out in the receiving game for Washington, racking up 91 yards through the air. Defensively, Quincy Riley made a significant impact for New Orleans with an interception that shifted momentum in their favor. The turning point came in the second quarter when Riley's pick thwarted a promising drive by the Commanders, allowing the Saints to extend their lead. Although Daron Payne recorded 1.5 sacks for Washington, the Saints' defense held firm, limiting the Commanders to just 16 points in what proved to be a crucial victory.
