In a commanding performance, the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Miami Dolphins 24-3 in their Week 1 matchup of the 2027 season. This opening game set a tone for both teams, with the Colts showcasing their strength and the Dolphins struggling to find their rhythm. Baker Mayfield led the Colts' offense with a solid showing, throwing for 147 yards and connecting on a touchdown pass. Alec Pierce was his top target, racking up 61 receiving yards, while the Miami ground game was spearheaded by Jadarian Price, who managed 53 rushing yards but found it tough to break free against the stout Colts defense. Defensively, the Colts were relentless, with Milton Williams recording two sacks to apply consistent pressure on the Dolphins' offense. Sonny Styles led the team with three total tackles, contributing to a dominating performance that kept Miami’s scoring opportunities at a minimum. The turning point came early in the second half when the Colts' defense forced a turnover, allowing them to extend their lead and control the game from that moment on.
