In a thrilling shootout to kick off the 2026 season, the Arizona Cardinals narrowly defeated the Los Angeles Chargers by a final score of 45-38. Both teams came out firing, but it was the Cardinals who secured the victory in a high-stakes matchup that showcased the explosive potential of both offenses. Justin Herbert put on a remarkable performance for the Chargers, throwing for 362 yards and five touchdowns, but it was the Cardinals' Jeremiyah Love who stole the show on the ground with an astounding 272 rushing yards. Trey McBride also made his mark, racking up 134 receiving yards and providing crucial support for Arizona's passing attack, ultimately leading to their hard-fought win. The defensive efforts played a pivotal role in the outcome, with Kaleb Proctor of the Cardinals recording two sacks that disrupted Herbert's rhythm. Will Johnson's interception added to the defensive highlights, but the game turned decisively when Arizona's defense tightened in the fourth quarter, allowing them to hold off the Chargers' late-game surge and secure the victory.
