In a commanding performance to kick off the 2026 season, the Kansas City Chiefs topped the Denver Broncos with a decisive 27-0 victory. The Chiefs showcased their dominance, setting the tone early in the game and preventing the Broncos from finding their rhythm. With both teams eager to start strong, Kansas City quickly asserted its control. Patrick Mahomes led the offensive charge with 141 passing yards and a touchdown, while Jeff Caldwell emerged as his favorite target, racking up 72 receiving yards. Despite a valiant effort from the Broncos' RJ Harvey, who managed 48 rushing yards, Denver struggled to generate any significant offensive output throughout the contest. The Chiefs effectively utilized their offensive weapons to maintain consistent scoring drives, leaving the Broncos reeling. Defensively, the Chiefs were relentless, highlighted by Nohl Williams’ standout performance with two crucial interceptions that halted any momentum Denver tried to build. The turning point came early in the second half when Williams' second pick set up another scoring opportunity for Kansas City, effectively sealing the game. The Broncos' inability to overcome the Chiefs' defensive pressure, combined with their offensive struggles, resulted in a shutout that will certainly reverberate through the rest of the season.
