In a hard-fought battle to kick off the 2026 season, the Buffalo Bills narrowly defeated the Houston Texans 14-10. With both teams vying for an early advantage in the standings, the Bills emerged victorious, showcasing their resilience on the road. C.J. Stroud led the Texans with 164 passing yards and one touchdown, showing flashes of potential despite the loss. However, it was James Cook III who stole the spotlight for Buffalo, rushing for 81 yards and helping to maintain the ground game. Dalton Kincaid also made his mark with 60 receiving yards, providing key first downs when the Bills needed them most. Defensively, Ed Oliver's 1.5 sacks were crucial in applying pressure on Stroud, disrupting Houston's rhythm all game long. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the Bills’ defense stiffened, forcing a critical turnover on downs that sealed the victory. With a solid start to the season, Buffalo will look to build on this momentum in the weeks to come.
