In a commanding performance, the Detroit Lions took down the Minnesota Vikings with a final score of 38-14, solidifying their position in the competitive NFC North. With both teams vying for playoff positioning in Week 8 of the 2026 season, the Lions proved they are a force to be reckoned with on their home turf. Jared Goff led the Lions' offense, throwing for two touchdowns and orchestrating a balanced attack that saw Jahmyr Gibbs rush for 107 yards on the ground. The Vikings' Kyler Murray struggled to keep pace, managing only 140 passing yards while Justin Jefferson racked up a solid 96 receiving yards, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback. Detroit's defense was instrumental in the victory, with Christian Izien leading the charge with two sacks and three total tackles. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Izien's pressure forced a turnover on downs, allowing the Lions to capitalize and extend their lead right before halftime. With Jack Campbell adding an interception to the mix, the Lions' defensive unit dominated, ensuring Minnesota could never find a rhythm.
