In a thrilling season opener, the Kansas City Chiefs topped the Denver Broncos 24-14, showcasing their dominance in the AFC West. The victory sets the tone for the Chiefs' campaign as they aim to reclaim their spot at the top of the division. Patrick Mahomes was the standout performer for Kansas City, throwing for 222 yards and three touchdown passes, demonstrating why he's considered one of the league's elite quarterbacks. Jeff Caldwell also made his mark, leading the receiving corps with 75 yards, while the ground game was largely held in check, with RJ Harvey of the Broncos managing 53 rushing yards. Defensively, L'Jarius Sneed was a key factor, recording five total tackles and snagging an interception that shifted momentum in favor of the Chiefs. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Sneed's interception set up Mahomes for another touchdown pass, giving Kansas City a 14-point lead that the Broncos could not overcome. Despite Alex Singleton's impressive three sacks for Denver, it was the Chiefs' defensive plays that ultimately sealed the game.
