In a thrilling season opener, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers topped the Cincinnati Bengals 34-24, kicking off the 2026 season with a strong performance. Both teams were eager to make a statement, but it was the Buccaneers who emerged victorious on the road. Baker Mayfield shone in the spotlight, throwing for three touchdowns while also rushing for 60 yards to lead the Buccaneers' offense. Bryce Lance was his favorite target, racking up an impressive 205 receiving yards, showcasing his ability to stretch the field. On the other side, Joe Burrow threw for 386 yards and kept the Bengals competitive, but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Defensively, Rueben Bain Jr. was a standout for Tampa Bay, making his presence felt with five tackles and a staggering four sacks, which disrupted Cincinnati's rhythm throughout the game. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Bain's relentless pressure led to a key turnover, allowing the Buccaneers to capitalize and extend their lead. Despite a valiant effort from the Bengals, including an interception by Bryan Cook, they could not overcome the Buccaneers' defensive prowess.
