In a tightly contested matchup, the Detroit Lions topped the Miami Dolphins 17-11 in Week 9 of the 2026 season. This victory was crucial for the Lions as they continue to push for playoff positioning in a competitive conference. Offensively, Malik Willis led the Dolphins with 189 passing yards and a touchdown, showcasing his ability to move the ball through the air. However, it was Jahmyr Gibbs of the Lions who shined on the ground, racking up 70 rushing yards to help fuel Detroit's offense. Both teams struggled to find consistency, but the Lions managed to capitalize on key opportunities. Defensively, the game turned on a pivotal interception by Brian Branch of the Lions, which halted a promising Dolphins drive and shifted momentum. While Jordan Phillips made his presence felt with 1.5 sacks for Miami, it was the Lions' ability to make crucial plays when it counted that secured their win. The Dolphins’ defense kept the game close, but ultimately, the Lions held off their opponents to claim victory.
