In a hard-fought battle in Week 2 of the 2026 season, the Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the Washington Commanders with a final score of 23-17. Both teams were looking to establish momentum early in the season, but it was Dallas that emerged victorious, securing an important win at home. Cowboys running back Javonte Williams was the standout on offense, racking up 119 rushing yards and playing a pivotal role in the team's ground game. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels also had a solid showing, throwing for 215 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Cowboys’ balanced attack. Receiver Terry McLaurin contributed significantly for Washington, leading the team with 77 receiving yards. Defensively, the game was highlighted by the efforts of both teams. While Sonny Styles of Washington made nine total tackles and Odafe Oweh recorded 2.5 sacks, it was Dallas' ability to contain the Commanders' late-game drives that proved decisive. The turning point came in the fourth quarter when the Cowboys' defense tightened up, forcing Washington into a crucial turnover that sealed the game for Dallas.
