In a thrilling season opener, the Pittsburgh Steelers topped the Atlanta Falcons 36-24, setting the tone for their 2026 campaign. With both teams eager to establish dominance early, the Steelers emerged victorious, showcasing a balanced offensive and defensive performance. Aaron Rodgers led the charge for Pittsburgh, throwing for two touchdowns while orchestrating a potent passing game. Meanwhile, Jaylen Warren put together an impressive showing on the ground, racking up 146 rushing yards and helping his team control the clock. For Atlanta, Michael Penix Jr. threw for 253 yards and kept the Falcons competitive, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Steelers' offensive firepower. Defensively, the Steelers made their presence felt with key contributions from Jaquan Brisker, who logged four total tackles, and Sebastian Joseph-Day, who recorded a sack. The turning point came in the second quarter when Patrick Queen intercepted a crucial pass, swinging momentum back to Pittsburgh and allowing them to extend their lead. As the season unfolds, both teams will look to build on this performance, but for now, the Steelers have struck first in the battle for supremacy.
