In a commanding Week 1 performance, the Detroit Lions topped the New Orleans Saints 47-13, setting the tone for the 2026 season. With both teams looking to establish themselves early, the Lions showcased their dominance on both sides of the ball, leaving little doubt about their intentions this year. Quarterback Jared Goff led the offensive charge for Detroit, throwing for two touchdowns and efficiently managing the game. Meanwhile, Isaac TeSlaa was a standout in the receiving corps, racking up an impressive 141 yards, while Isiah Pacheco contributed a solid 65 rushing yards, helping to keep the Saints' defense on its heels throughout the contest. Defensively, the Lions were relentless, with Derrick Moore wreaking havoc on the Saints' backfield, recording 2.5 sacks. The turning point came in the second quarter when Brian Branch secured an interception, halting a potential scoring drive by New Orleans and shifting the momentum firmly in Detroit's favor. The Lions' defensive prowess combined with their offensive firepower proved to be too much for the Saints to handle.
