In a tightly contested matchup, the Detroit Lions held off the New York Jets with a final score of 21-16, securing their second win of the season in Week 3 of the 2026 campaign. Both teams were hungry for a victory, but it was the Lions who managed to come out on top in this pivotal clash. Lions quarterback Jared Goff showcased his precision, throwing for 281 yards and two touchdowns, leading the charge for the offense. Jahmyr Gibbs contributed with a solid performance on the ground, rushing for 59 yards to keep the Jets' defense honest. On the other side, Adonai Mitchell of the Jets stood out with 70 receiving yards, but it wasn’t enough to convert critical opportunities into points. Defensively, Roger McCreary was a standout for the Lions, recording eight total tackles and an interception that shifted momentum in the fourth quarter. The turning point came when McCreary picked off a pass late in the game, stifling a Jets drive and allowing Detroit to maintain possession and control the clock. The Lions' defense proved crucial in sealing the victory, as they consistently pressured the Jets' offense and limited their big-play potential.
