In a thrilling season opener, the Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the New York Giants 24-17 in Week 1 of the 2026 season. Both teams were looking to set the tone for the year, but it was the Cowboys who emerged victorious on the road, capitalizing on key moments to secure the win. Dak Prescott led the Cowboys' offense with 225 passing yards, while Javonte Williams dominated on the ground, rushing for 113 yards. The Giants' Tyler Shough managed to throw one touchdown, but it was not enough to overcome the Cowboys’ balanced offensive attack. Christian Watson was a bright spot for New York, racking up 87 receiving yards, but the Giants struggled to find consistent rhythm throughout the game. Defensively, the Cowboys made pivotal plays, with Christian Benford recording an interception and contributing half a sack to pressure the Giants' offense. Dee Winters of New York was active all game, leading with 12 total tackles, but it was the Cowboys' timely defensive stand that proved crucial. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Benford’s interception halted a promising Giants drive, allowing Dallas to secure the victory and start the season on a high note.
