In a tightly contested season opener, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Los Angeles Rams 20-15, showcasing their early dominance in the 2026 season. With both teams eager to set the tone for the year, the outcome was pivotal in establishing momentum within the division. Joe Flacco led the charge for the 49ers with a standout performance, throwing for 317 yards and two touchdowns, demonstrating poise and precision under pressure. Derrick Henry complemented the passing game with 95 rushing yards, while Cooper Kupp emerged as Flacco's favorite target, racking up 133 receiving yards. This offensive trio proved to be too much for the Rams to handle. Defensively, the 49ers' Caleb Downs stood out with 10 total tackles, helping to neutralize the Rams' offensive threats. The game turned in the fourth quarter when a crucial interception by Jalen Ramsey gave Los Angeles a glimmer of hope, but the 49ers' defense held firm, ensuring they held off the Rams' late-game surge. With strong performances on both sides of the ball, San Francisco begins the season on a high note.
