In a decisive Week 3 matchup, the Washington Commanders topped the New York Giants with a final score of 34-17. The victory solidifies the Commanders' standing in the early part of the season, showcasing their ability to capitalize on opportunities and maintain control throughout the game. Offensively, Washington's Jayden Daniels threw for one touchdown and managed the game effectively, while Terry McLaurin led the receiving corps with 50 yards. On the ground, the Giants' Cam Skattebo was a standout performer, rushing for 123 yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Commanders' balanced attack. New York's J.J. McCarthy put up 185 passing yards, but the Giants struggled to find consistency in their offensive rhythm. Defensively, the Commanders were impactful, with Joshua Josephs recording a sack and Mike Sainristil snagging an interception that shifted momentum in favor of Washington. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Sainristil's interception set up a touchdown drive, allowing the Commanders to extend their lead to two scores. This defensive stand proved crucial as the Giants could never fully recover, ultimately falling short in their attempt to rally back.
