In a thrilling Week 3 matchup, the Pittsburgh Steelers topped the Los Angeles Chargers 35-24, solidifying their standing as a formidable contender early in the 2027 season. The victory not only boosts the Steelers' confidence but also serves as a statement against a Chargers team known for their explosive offense. Trinidad Chambliss led the way for Pittsburgh with an impressive 278 passing yards, while Gavin Sawchuk dominated on the ground, racking up 179 rushing yards and contributing significantly to the team's offensive success. George Pickens was also a standout, grabbing 106 receiving yards and providing crucial support in the passing game. Despite Justin Herbert's lone passing touchdown for the Chargers, the Steelers' offensive firepower proved too much to handle. Defensively, the Steelers showcased their strength, particularly with Sauce Gardner's remarkable four interceptions, which shifted momentum at key moments in the game. Josiah Trotter anchored the defense with nine total tackles, consistently disrupting the Chargers' offensive rhythm. The turning point came in the second quarter when Gardner's first interception led directly to a Steelers touchdown, helping to establish a lead that the Chargers could never fully recover from.
