In a tightly contested matchup, the Arizona Cardinals narrowly defeated the Detroit Lions 24-21 in Week 5 of the 2026 season. Both teams entered the game looking to solidify their playoff aspirations, making this victory crucial for the Cardinals as they aim to maintain momentum in the standings. Carson Beck was the standout for Arizona, throwing for 237 yards and two touchdowns that played a pivotal role in securing the win. Jahmyr Gibbs shone for the Lions, showcasing his versatility with 120 receiving yards, although he struggled to find room in the ground game, managing just 27 rushing yards. His performance kept Detroit competitive but ultimately fell short in the scoring department. Defensively, the Cardinals made key plays to disrupt the Lions' offense, led by Cody Simon, who racked up eight total tackles, and Zaven Collins, who recorded two sacks. The game's turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the Cardinals' defense stifled a potential game-tying drive by intercepting a pass, allowing Arizona to run out the clock and secure the victory.
