The Kansas City Chiefs triumphed over the Los Angeles Chargers with a final score of 31-21 in a crucial Week 8 matchup of the 2028 season. This victory not only boosts the Chiefs' playoff hopes but also solidifies their position in the competitive AFC West. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes showcased his elite skills, throwing for an impressive 356 yards and three touchdowns, effectively leading his team’s offensive charge. Meanwhile, Xavier Worthy was a standout in the receiving game, racking up 141 yards, including several key catches that kept the chains moving and the defense on its heels. On the ground, Jerome Harrison of the Chargers made his mark with 101 rushing yards, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with Kansas City's aerial assault. Defensively, the Chiefs made pivotal plays that turned the tide in their favor, particularly with Drue Tranquill's interception halting a potential Chargers scoring drive. Chris Jones contributed a sack that disrupted Mahomes' rhythm, but it was the overall defensive effort that limited Los Angeles' effectiveness in critical moments. The turning point came late in the third quarter when Mahomes connected with Worthy for a touchdown, extending the lead and placing the Chargers in a challenging position as they tried to rally back.
