The New England Patriots secured a commanding 42-18 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6 of the 2028 season, establishing themselves as a formidable force in the league. This win not only boosts the Patriots' confidence but also puts them firmly in the playoff conversation as they continue to build momentum. Drake Maye was the standout performer for the Patriots, throwing for an impressive 354 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to command the offense effectively. Meanwhile, Kyle Williams emerged as a dominant receiving threat, racking up 191 yards and providing Maye with a reliable target downfield. Christian McCaffrey led the 49ers’ ground game with 67 rushing yards but struggled to find consistent success against the Patriots' defense. Defensively, the Patriots were solid, with Craig Woodson leading the team with five total tackles, though they were unable to generate a significant pass rush to disrupt Maye's rhythm. The turning point came early in the second half when the Patriots scored two quick touchdowns, increasing their lead and putting the 49ers in a desperate position. Despite a couple of interceptions from Isaiah Pola-Mao, the 49ers couldn’t capitalize on their defense’s efforts, allowing New England to pull away decisively.
