In a decisive Week 18 showdown, the Houston Texans topped the Washington Commanders 31-13, solidifying their playoff position. With the stakes high, the Texans showcased their offensive prowess, ensuring they carry momentum into the postseason. C.J. Stroud was the standout performer for Houston, throwing for 197 yards and two touchdowns. His efficient playmaking was complemented by Woody Marks, who contributed a solid 72 rushing yards, keeping the Commanders' defense on their heels. This offensive production proved too much for Washington to handle, as the Texans built an early lead and maintained control throughout the game. On the defensive side, the Texans made crucial stops, highlighted by Dexter Lawrence II's sack, which disrupted Washington's rhythm. Sonny Styles of the Commanders led all defenders with nine total tackles, but the Texans' defense consistently pressured the Washington offense, forcing them into tough situations. The turning point came in the second quarter when Houston scored back-to-back touchdowns, creating a gap that Washington could never close.
