In a dominant defensive showcase, the Washington Commanders shut out the San Francisco 49ers with a final score of 17-0 in Week 6 of the 2026 season. This victory not only boosts the Commanders' confidence as they head deeper into the season but also raises concerns for the 49ers, who struggled to find their offensive rhythm throughout the game. Leading the way for Washington was quarterback Jayden Daniels, who threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability to manage the game effectively. Chigoziem Okonkwo emerged as his top target, racking up 68 receiving yards while contributing significantly to the Commanders' scoring efforts. Meanwhile, Joe Mixon was the lone bright spot for the 49ers with 47 rushing yards, but his performance was not enough to ignite any offensive momentum. The Commanders' defense was relentless, with Amik Robertson recording a game-high seven total tackles, ensuring that San Francisco couldn't establish a foothold on offense. The turning point came early in the second half when Washington's defense stifled a promising drive by the 49ers, leading to a crucial turnover that allowed the Commanders to extend their lead. With a balanced attack and a suffocating defense, Washington proved they are a formidable force this season.
