In a commanding Week 1 performance, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Los Angeles Rams 27-7, setting the tone for the 2026 season. With both teams eager to start strong, the 49ers showcased their dominance right out of the gate. Quarterback Brock Purdy led the charge for San Francisco, throwing for 205 yards and three touchdowns. His efficiency in the pocket was complemented by strong support from running back Christian McCaffrey, who added 68 rushing yards, helping to keep the Rams' defense off balance throughout the game. On the receiving end, the 49ers executed their game plan effectively, with Purdy spreading the ball around to maintain offensive momentum. Defensively, the 49ers were equally impressive, with Renardo Green securing a critical interception that halted a potential Rams scoring drive. The turning point came in the second quarter when Green's pick led to a quick touchdown, giving San Francisco a commanding lead that the Rams could never overcome. Despite a solid performance from Quentin Lake, who recorded seven tackles for Los Angeles, the Rams struggled to contain the 49ers' offensive firepower, ultimately sealing their fate in this season opener.
