The Detroit Lions secured a thrilling 24-21 victory over the Carolina Panthers in a crucial Week 17 matchup that had significant playoff implications. With this win, the Lions keep their postseason hopes alive, while the Panthers face a critical crossroads as they look to the future. J.J. McCarthy led the Lions' offense with a strong performance, passing for 258 yards and keeping drives alive when it mattered most. Bryce Young contributed for the Panthers with one touchdown pass, but it was Larry Oh who provided a spark on the ground with 71 rushing yards. Amon-Ra St. Brown was a key target for Detroit, racking up 78 receiving yards to help move the chains and maintain offensive momentum. On the defensive side, the Lions made pivotal plays that shaped the game's outcome, particularly Jack Campbell's nine total tackles and Graceson Littleton's interception, which halted a potential scoring drive from Carolina. Bart Pappoe also shone for the Panthers with 1.5 sacks, but it was the Lions' ability to create turnovers and pressure the quarterback that proved to be the difference-maker. With the game tied late, Detroit's defense stepped up, allowing the offense to seal the win with a final drive that culminated in the game-winning field goal.
