The New York Jets topped the Carolina Panthers 42-24 in a crucial Week 16 matchup, solidifying their playoff position as the season approaches its conclusion. Both teams entered the game with high stakes, but the Jets showcased their dominance, pulling away in the second half. Tyler Shough led the Jets’ offense with a stellar performance, tossing three touchdown passes while Breece Hall dominated on the ground, racking up an impressive 219 rushing yards. Bryce Young kept the Panthers competitive with 277 passing yards and a strong showing from Mike Matthews, who recorded 138 receiving yards, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Jets' explosive attack. The Jets' defense played a pivotal role in the outcome, with Cooper DeJean leading the way with five total tackles and Kyler Gordon contributing an interception that shifted momentum in favor of New York. The turning point came late in the second quarter when the Jets capitalized on a turnover, scoring quickly to extend their lead, effectively putting the game out of reach for the Panthers.
