In a tightly contested matchup, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Washington Commanders 26-14 in Week 6 of the 2026 season. The 49ers sought to maintain their momentum in the standings, while the Commanders aimed to bounce back from recent struggles. Ultimately, San Francisco's balanced attack proved decisive. Brock Purdy led the way for the 49ers, throwing for a touchdown while keeping the chains moving. However, it was Christian McCaffrey who stole the spotlight with a dominant performance on the ground, racking up an impressive 190 rushing yards. Jayden Daniels put up respectable numbers for the Commanders, finishing with 144 passing yards, but it was not enough to secure a win. Defensively, the 49ers made critical plays at pivotal moments, with Marques Sigle intercepting two passes and Romello Height contributing with a sack. The turning point of the game came in the second half when San Francisco's defense thwarted a potential scoring drive by Washington, enabling the 49ers to maintain their lead and control the tempo of the game. With this victory, San Francisco continues to solidify its position as a contender this season.
