In a strong opening to the 2026 season, the Atlanta Falcons topped the Pittsburgh Steelers with a final score of 27-14. The victory not only sets the tone for the Falcons but also hands the Steelers a tough loss to start the year. Both teams aimed to establish their identities early, but it was Atlanta that showcased their prowess on both sides of the ball. Leading the way for the Falcons was quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr, who threw for two touchdown passes, helping to build a comfortable lead. On the other side, Aaron Rodgers managed to put up 187 passing yards, but the Steelers struggled to convert those efforts into points. Rico Dowdle was a bright spot for Pittsburgh, racking up 41 rushing yards and leading the team with 84 receiving yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome Atlanta's offensive firepower. Defensively, the Falcons' presence was felt throughout the game, highlighted by Nick Bosa's sack and Adoree' Jackson's crucial interception. Jessie Bates III led the team with three tackles, contributing to a defensive performance that stifled Pittsburgh's momentum. The turning point came when Jackson's interception allowed Atlanta to seize control of the game, shifting the momentum firmly in their favor and ultimately sealing their victory.
