In a commanding performance to kick off the 2026 season, the Detroit Lions steamrolled the New Orleans Saints with a final score of 55-23. With both teams looking to establish dominance early, the Lions showcased their offensive firepower and set the tone for the remainder of the year. Quarterback Jared Goff was the star of the show, throwing for an impressive 467 yards and six touchdowns, leading a relentless passing attack. Wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa was his primary target, racking up 187 receiving yards, while Jahmyr Gibbs contributed a solid 76 rushing yards to keep the Saints' defense on its heels throughout the game. On the defensive side, the Saints struggled to contain the Lions' explosive offense, with no standout performances to turn the tide. Detroit's offensive onslaught culminated in a pivotal moment in the second quarter, when Goff threw three touchdowns in a span of just five minutes, effectively putting the game out of reach for New Orleans. Despite a strong showing from Kool-Aid McKinstry, who led the Saints with three tackles and an interception, it was clear the Lions were in complete control.
