In a stunning display of offensive prowess, the Detroit Lions topped the New Orleans Saints 58-14 in their Week 1 matchup of the 2026 season. This commanding victory sets the tone for the Lions as they aim to assert themselves early in the campaign. Jared Goff was the star of the show, throwing for four touchdowns while leading an explosive Lions offense. Jahmyr Gibbs also shined on the ground, racking up 127 rushing yards, while Jameson Williams showcased his receiving skills with 120 yards and a touchdown. Together, they created a relentless attack that kept the Saints' defense on their heels all game long. Defensively, the Lions were equally impressive, with Jack Campbell recording eight tackles and four sacks, disrupting the Saints' rhythm. The turning point came in the second quarter when Goff connected with Williams for a long touchdown, pushing the lead to 28-0 and effectively sealing the fate of the game. Despite a commendable performance from Tyler Shough, who threw for 293 yards for New Orleans, the Lions' defensive pressure proved too much to overcome.
