In a pivotal Week 5 matchup of the 2026 season, the Detroit Lions secured a 28-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, solidifying their position in a competitive NFC. The win was crucial for the Lions as they aim to establish themselves as playoff contenders while the Cardinals look to regroup after a tough loss. Detroit's offensive performance was highlighted by a dominant rushing attack, with Jahmyr Gibbs leading the way with 99 yards on the ground. Quarterback performance was also notable, with the Lions efficiently distributing the ball and finding the end zone multiple times. Although Jacoby Brissett threw for 252 yards and a touchdown for Arizona, it wasn't enough to keep pace with Detroit's balanced offensive onslaught. Defensively, the Lions managed to stifle the Cardinals' momentum at key moments, forcing critical stops that swung the game in their favor. Arizona's Mack Wilson Sr. led the charge with 10 total tackles, but the Lions' ability to convert on third downs and sustain drives proved decisive. The turning point came late in the second half when Detroit's defense held strong, preventing a potential comeback and allowing the Lions to secure the win.
