In a commanding performance, the Seattle Seahawks topped the Detroit Lions 55-30 in Week 1 of the 2027 season. The game served as a statement for the Seahawks, showcasing their offensive firepower and defensive prowess right out of the gate. Jalen Milroe led the charge for Seattle with 159 passing yards, while Ashton Jeanty added to the attack with 86 rushing yards. On the other side, Jared Goff threw for two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with the explosive Seattle offense. Jameson Williams shined for Detroit, racking up 122 receiving yards, but the Lions struggled to convert those opportunities into points. Seattle's defense played a pivotal role in the outcome, highlighted by Bud Clark's five total tackles and Marcus Ratcliffe's two interceptions that turned the tide in favor of the Seahawks. The turning point came in the second quarter when Ratcliffe's first interception set up a quick touchdown, allowing Seattle to seize momentum and maintain control throughout the rest of the game. The combination of offensive efficiency and defensive resilience proved too much for Detroit to handle.
