In a thrilling opening matchup of the 2026 season, the Kansas City Chiefs held off the Denver Broncos with a final score of 31-24. Both teams came into this game looking to set the tone for the year, but the Chiefs proved to be the stronger side in this hard-fought battle. Patrick Mahomes was in vintage form, throwing for four touchdowns while leading the Chiefs' offense with precision and poise. On the receiving end, Jeff Caldwell was unstoppable, racking up an impressive 175 receiving yards that kept the Broncos' defense on their heels. The Broncos' Bo Nix also had a strong game, passing for 355 yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Chiefs' offensive firepower. Defensively, the Chiefs made crucial plays that turned the tide in their favor. L'Jarius Sneed's two interceptions proved pivotal, halting Denver's momentum at key moments, while R Mason Thomas added pressure with 1.5 sacks. The turning point came in the second quarter when Sneed's first pick led directly to another Mahomes touchdown, giving Kansas City the lead they would not relinquish.
