In a thrilling Week 6 matchup, the Washington Commanders topped the San Francisco 49ers 31-23, solidifying their position in the playoff hunt. With both teams eager to secure a crucial win, the stakes were high as the Commanders aimed to maintain momentum in the 2026 season. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels led the charge with a stellar performance, throwing for three touchdowns and helping his team build an early lead. Justin Fields of the 49ers put up impressive numbers as well, racking up 299 passing yards, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Commanders’ offensive firepower. On the ground, Jacory Croskey-Merritt added 64 rushing yards, while Antonio Williams shined in the receiving game with 124 yards, providing crucial support to his quarterback. The Commanders' defense played a pivotal role in the outcome, highlighted by Sonny Styles' eight total tackles and Jaquan Brisker's timely interception, which halted a potential comeback from the 49ers. Romello Height's 1.5 sacks were a bright spot for San Francisco, but ultimately, it was the Commanders' ability to create turnovers and pressure the quarterback that proved decisive. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Brisker's interception shifted the momentum back to Washington, sealing their victory in a tightly contested battle.
