In a decisive opening game for the 2026 season, the Los Angeles Chargers topped the Arizona Cardinals with a commanding 24-3 victory. This win sets a strong tone for the Chargers as they look to build momentum early in the year, while the Cardinals will need to regroup after a disappointing performance. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert led the charge with a solid passing game, throwing for a touchdown and contributing to the team's offensive rhythm. Meanwhile, Omarion Hampton was the standout in the ground game, rushing for 75 yards and helping control the pace of play. For the Cardinals, Jacoby Brissett amassed 221 passing yards but struggled to find the end zone, with Michael Wilson being the lone bright spot in the receiving corps, tallying 64 yards. Defensively, the Chargers were relentless, led by Akheem Mesidor, who recorded an impressive 3.5 sacks, making it challenging for the Cardinals to establish any offensive momentum. The turning point came in the second quarter when Derwin James Jr. snagged an interception, stifling an Arizona drive and allowing Los Angeles to extend their lead. The Chargers' defensive dominance proved too much for the Cardinals to overcome, sealing the game and showcasing their potential for the season ahead.
