In a tightly contested battle in Week 5 of the 2026 season, the Washington Commanders outlasted the New York Giants with a final score of 22-17. This victory keeps the Commanders in the playoff conversation while leaving the Giants searching for answers as they struggle to find consistency. Leading the way for Washington was quarterback Jayden Daniels, who threw for 184 yards and connected on one touchdown pass. Stefon Diggs proved to be a reliable target, racking up 84 receiving yards, while the Commanders' balanced attack kept the Giants' defense on its heels throughout the game. On the defensive side, Frankie Luvu stood out with two sacks, applying consistent pressure on the Giants' offense. The turning point of the game came when Nick Cross intercepted a pass, halting a promising drive by New York and allowing Washington to maintain momentum and secure the win. Tremaine Edmunds led the Giants' defense with eight tackles but couldn't quite turn the tide in a hard-fought contest.
