In a tightly contested season opener, the Titusville Shrikes narrowly defeated the Riverside Roadrunners with a final score of 13-6. With both teams eager to kick off the 2026 season on a high note, the Shrikes emerged victorious in what proved to be a defensive battle throughout. Drake Maye was the standout for Titusville, throwing for 195 yards and two touchdowns, providing just enough firepower to secure the win. Despite a strong effort from Riverside's James Cook III, who rushed for 87 yards, the Roadrunners struggled to find the end zone, leaving them just short of a comeback. Defensively, the Shrikes were led by Isaiah Simmons, who not only recorded five total tackles but also secured a crucial interception that swung momentum in favor of Titusville. The game's turning point came late in the third quarter when Simmons picked off a pass, stalling a potential scoring drive for Riverside and allowing the Shrikes to maintain their slim lead heading into the final frame.
