In a dominant showing to kick off the 2026 season, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Los Angeles Rams with a final score of 21-0. This victory not only sets a strong tone for the 49ers but also highlights their defensive prowess as they start the year with a shutout. Offensively, the 49ers were led by quarterback Hendon Hooker, who threw for one touchdown, while Christian McCaffrey contributed significantly on the ground with 78 rushing yards. Despite the Rams' Matthew Stafford leading the game in passing yards with 214, it was the 49ers' balanced attack that ultimately proved too much for Los Angeles. Defensively, San Francisco was relentless, with Nick Bosa recording an impressive 2.5 sacks and Fred Warner leading the team with four tackles. The turning point came in the second quarter when Malik Mustapha intercepted Stafford, halting a potential scoring drive and allowing the 49ers to extend their lead. This performance underscores San Francisco's commitment to a strong defensive strategy as the season unfolds.
