In an explosive Week 5 matchup, the Detroit Lions topped the Arizona Cardinals 48-36, solidifying their position in the playoff race. Both teams showcased their offensive prowess, but it was the Lions who ultimately came out on top, leveraging their strong running game and timely defensive plays to secure the victory. Jahmyr Gibbs was a standout for Detroit, rushing for an impressive 182 yards and helping his team dominate the ground game. Meanwhile, Jacoby Brissett of the Cardinals put up a valiant effort, throwing for 432 yards and five touchdowns, connecting frequently with Trey McBride, who gathered 161 receiving yards. Despite the impressive stats from Arizona, it was the Lions' ability to balance their attack that made the difference. On the defensive side, the Lions made key plays when it mattered most. Aidan Hutchinson recorded 1.5 sacks, consistently putting pressure on Brissett, while Christian Izien's interception shifted momentum back in Detroit's favor during a crucial moment in the second half. With D.J. Reed leading the tackles for the Lions, the defense's contributions were vital in holding off the Cardinals' late-game surge.
