In a thrilling opener to the 2026 season, the Denver Broncos narrowly defeated the Kansas City Chiefs with a final score of 59-52. Both teams showcased explosive offensive talent, but the Broncos emerged victorious in a game that had major playoff implications set from the start. Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs with an astonishing 570 passing yards and seven touchdowns, a performance that kept his team in the hunt until the final whistle. However, it was RJ Harvey of the Broncos who stole the show on the ground, racking up 157 rushing yards and keeping the chains moving at critical moments. On the receiving end, Xavier Worthy dazzled with 361 yards, proving to be a dominant force for Kansas City. The defensive efforts ultimately swayed the game in Denver's favor. Alex Singleton led the way with five total tackles, while Jonathon Cooper contributed significantly with two sacks that disrupted Mahomes' rhythm. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter, when L'Jarius Sneed's second interception gave the Chiefs a glimmer of hope, but the Broncos' defense held firm to seal the victory and start their season on a high note.
