In a thrilling season opener, the Seattle Seahawks topped the New England Patriots 24-17, marking a strong start to the 2026 campaign. Both teams were eager to establish momentum, but it was Seattle that ultimately emerged victorious in this tightly contested matchup. Sam Darnold showcased his passing prowess, throwing for an impressive 321 yards, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a standout performance, racking up 140 receiving yards. Zach Charbonnet also made his mark on the ground, contributing 104 rushing yards and helping to keep the Patriots' defense on its heels throughout the game. Meanwhile, Drake Maye found the end zone once for New England, but it wasn't enough to overcome Seattle's offensive firepower. Defensively, the Seahawks made crucial plays, with Devon Witherspoon securing an interception that shifted the momentum in their favor. Robert Spillane led the Patriots with 11 tackles, but it was Seattle's ability to make key stops that ultimately sealed their victory. With the game tied at 17 in the fourth quarter, the Seahawks' defense stepped up, allowing them to hold off New England and secure the win with a late touchdown.
