In an explosive season opener, the Denver Broncos topped the Detroit Lions 52-28, showcasing their offensive firepower and setting a commanding tone for the 2027 season. With both teams vying for an early advantage, the Broncos delivered a statement performance that left little doubt about their ambitions this year. Quarterback Bo Nix led the charge for Denver, throwing for an impressive 416 yards and five touchdowns, effectively carving up the Lions' defense. His connection with the receiving corps was on full display, while the Broncos' balanced attack kept Detroit on their heels. Jahmyr Gibbs put forth a valiant effort for the Lions with 95 rushing yards, but it wasn't enough to match Denver's offensive onslaught. Defensively, the Broncos made crucial plays that shifted momentum in their favor. Talanoa Hufanga's two interceptions proved pivotal, stifling any potential Lions' comebacks and bolstering Denver's confidence. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Hufanga's second pick set up another scoring drive, allowing the Broncos to extend their lead and effectively seal the game before halftime.
