In a closely contested matchup, the Buffalo Bills narrowly defeated the Washington Commanders 20-17 in Week 4 of the 2027 season. With both teams vying for momentum early in the season, this victory was crucial for Buffalo as they look to solidify their playoff aspirations. Josh Allen led the way for the Bills, throwing for 234 yards and a touchdown, showcasing his ability to manage the game effectively. DJ Moore emerged as his top target, racking up 77 receiving yards, while James Cook III provided a solid ground game with 60 rushing yards. The combination of Allen's aerial attack and Cook's contributions kept the Commanders' defense on their heels. Defensively, the Bills were formidable, with Terrel Bernard making his presence felt by leading the team with eight total tackles. The turning point came when Cole Bishop intercepted a crucial pass, stifling a potential game-tying drive late in the fourth quarter. K'Lavon Chaisson's sack for the Commanders showed their resilience, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Bills' defensive effort.
