In a thrilling Week 2 matchup of the 2026 season, the Washington Commanders narrowly defeated the Dallas Cowboys, 27-23, in a game that showcased both teams' offensive firepower. This victory was crucial for the Commanders as they look to establish themselves early in the season against a formidable division rival. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott had an impressive performance, throwing for 345 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Javonte Williams added a solid 100 rushing yards. The standout of the day was CeeDee Lamb, who racked up 173 receiving yards, creating mismatches all game long. Despite the explosive offensive output from the Cowboys, it was Washington’s ability to stay efficient that ultimately secured the win. On the defensive side, Mike Sainristil's key interception proved to be a game-changer, halting a potential Dallas scoring drive and shifting momentum back to the Commanders. While DaRon Bland led the Cowboys with 11 tackles and Kenny Clark added a sack, the Washington defense managed to make timely stops that kept the Cowboys from finding a rhythm late in the game. This defensive resilience was critical as the Commanders held off a late charge from Dallas to seal the victory.
