In a thrilling opening matchup of the 2026 season, the Denver Broncos topped the Kansas City Chiefs with a final score of 35-21. This victory sets a strong tone for the Broncos as they look to compete in a highly competitive AFC West. Bo Nix was the star of the show for Denver, throwing for three touchdown passes and leading his team to a decisive offensive performance. While Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes threw for 204 yards, it was the Broncos' ability to capitalize in the red zone that made the difference. Kenneth Walker also had a solid game for the Chiefs, rushing for 124 yards, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with Denver's scoring. On the defensive side, Jahdae Barron made a significant impact for the Broncos, recording two crucial interceptions that shifted momentum in favor of his team. The turning point came in the second quarter when Barron’s second pick set up a short field for Denver, leading to a touchdown that put them ahead for good. While Chamarri Conner was a standout for Kansas City with four tackles and two sacks, the Broncos' defense proved more opportunistic, sealing the game with their timely takeaways.
